What an amazing and incredible year this has been! I just want to extend a huge
Thank You to all of you for making this a very memorable and fun year for me
while giving me the opportunity to serve as your President. And thank
you for all the encouragement and support I have
experienced this past year.
Thank you to those of you who were on the Board – you are all so special to me!
Thank you to those of you who chaired activities – that’s what keeps this club so
vibrant and fun! Thank you to those who opened their homes and their hearts
to the rest of us because without you we could not do a lot of the wonderfu
l activities that we offer.
I cannot believe a year has passed since I was getting ready to become the President of the Newcomers’ Club and now it is time for me to move on to the advisor position and welcome our new President. It is with a great deal of pleasure that I introduce you to Kirsten Maxwell. Kirsten will be such an asset as she leads this year. She is very organized and has great ideas and insights into the Club. She knows most of you already because she served on the Newcomers’ Board this past year as our VP of Membership and did an outstanding job. Kirsten grew up in Tempe, AZ and met her husband, Jason there right after she finished college at the University of AZ and he had just graduated from Law School. She has a BA in Spanish and a minor in Marketing as well as a Teaching Credential from National University in San Diego. In her life before children she was a purchasing manager, a coordinator for a Real Estate company and her favorite job was as a teacher. Kirsten and Jason have been married 11 years and have 3 boys; Gavin is 6½, Finley is 4½, and Ronan is 2. They moved to Lake Forest in 2005 from San Diego, CA. Right now she works as the Administrative Assistant to the Director at First Presbyterian Preschool and serves as the chair of their Board. She loves to travel and read and “especially loves being a part of Newcomers’ and meeting all the new people that move to our community”, but she is not especially fond of the North Shore weather. And just for your information her name is pronounced Kearsten, but she says she will answer to anything. Join me in congratulating Kirsten and let’s all get involved and support her.
As we move into the summer months some of the activities will take a break and some will continue. Keep an eye on your email or the website for updates on what is happening in the Club. Have a wonderful summer and may it find you in the warm sunshine, with family and friends and relaxing. See you in September.
And remember, keep smiling because “there are hundreds of languages in the world, but a smile speaks them all”!
Cheers,
Cindy
