Traditionally, this is time for spring, but unfortunately,
here on the North Shore, we never know quite when to
expect it, or if it will even come. So as a replacement, we
offer you this, our countdown to “Going Green”.
How appropriate that as we look forward to St. Patrick’s
Day, our club will be wearing our green by phasing out
our paper newsletters. There will be 3 more newsletters
before we go completely on-line. What does this mean
for you? It means you get to save some green next
year! What’s better than that?
Let’s talk about all the activities going on this month for you to enjoy. Creative
Cooks will be holding a cooking class on March 2nd at Sunset Foods, Men’s
Night will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at Bridie McKenna’s on March 12th,
the Antiques group will be heading to the Fox Valley Antique Show on March
13th, and the Gourmet Group will have an event on March 13th as well. We will
also have a Potluck on March 20th that promises to be lots of fun. So much to do,
so be sure to check the calendar!
Also, this month, you will not want to miss The Big Ta-Do on Thursday, March
11th! What’s this you might ask? The Big Ta-Do is a ladies night out where we
celebrate all of our newest members. It is catered, so you do not have to bring a
single thing, except yourself. A great way to shake off those winter blues!
Every March we are invited to share a luncheon with our sister club, Encore. As
always, this is a fun event where we get to reconnect with former Newcomers,
and make some new friends in our sister club. The luncheon will be Thursday,
March 11th at the Genesee Theater in Waukegan. The luncheon will begin at 11
am with a tour of the historic theater, followed by a buffet lunch. Please try to
come for this special event.
The Nominating Committee thanks you for all your nominations for the 2010-
2011 board. The new board will be announced in the next couple of months, so
keep an eye out for the announcement.
Hurry up spring, we can’t wait much longer!
